Ireland's Rebecca Stokell admits anti-doping breach
Ireland batter Rebecca Stokell has admitted an ICC anti-doping violation after an adverse finding for a specified substance and accepted a voluntary suspension from October 23.
Ireland batter Rebecca Stokell has admitted breaching the ICC anti-doping code after a sample from this year's T20 World Cup returned an adverse finding for a specified substance. The ICC said the sample was taken from an in-competition test on June 23, 2026, and that Stokell admitted the violation, which arose from prescription medication. She accepted a voluntary suspension effective October 23, 2026, pending the disciplinary process.
Cricket Ireland described it as an inadvertent breach of reporting requirements and said the substance was non-performance enhancing. Stokell said: 'I fully accept my mistake and have voluntarily entered into a period of suspension ahead of the findings being returned. While this was not performance related in any way, I understand that I am responsible for following the anti-doping guidelines and I hope that I can be back playing for Ireland as soon as possible.'
Stokell, 26, has played 29 ODIs and 80 T20Is since her international debut in 2017. She played all five of Ireland's games at the T20 World Cup, scoring 40 runs, and last featured in the 3-0 ODI series defeat in England in September.
