Kohli and India seamers secure DLS win in Auckland ODI opener
Virat Kohli's 74 off 51 helped India chase a revised 143 in 32 overs after their seamers bowled New Zealand out for 185 in the first ODI at Eden Park.
India took a 1-0 lead in the five-match ODI series with a five-wicket win over New Zealand by the DLS method in Auckland on November 4. New Zealand were bowled out for 185 in 40.2 overs after Shubman Gill chose to bowl under overcast skies. Arshdeep Singh took 4 for 70, Gurnoor Brar 3 for 44 and Anshul Kamboj 2 for 22 in 10 overs. Blair Tickner's late 34 helped the hosts recover from 115 for 7, but India's seamers and fielding kept the total modest. It was New Zealand's first defeat in the opening match of a home ODI series in 12 series.
Rain interrupted India's chase twice. Set a revised target of 143 in 32 overs, India reached 143 for 5 in 22.4 overs. Kohli made 74 off 51, dominating the short ball, while Gill made 37. Jacob Duffy took 3 for 49. Kamboj was named Player of the Match.
