Sri Lanka chased down England's 429 for 4 to win the third match of the Pakistan ODI Tri-Series 2026 in Rawalpindi on 22 October, with Dasun Shanaka making 97 off 50 balls.
It was the second-highest successful run chase in ODI history, behind South Africa's 434 against Australia in 2006, and Sri Lanka's highest successful chase. Shanaka, promoted up the order, walked in at 193 for 3 at the start of the 28th over. He reached fifty off 30 balls and struck six fours and eight sixes before falling in the 44th over to Liam Dawson, caught by Tom Banton at long-on, three runs short of a century.
Pavan Rathnayake made 130 and Avishka Fernando 97. Janith Liyanage finished unbeaten on 61 off 27 balls, hitting a six off the penultimate ball as Sri Lanka sealed the win with two wickets and one ball to spare. Sri Lanka's previous highest successful chase was 321, achieved against England at Leeds in 2006 and against India at The Oval in 2017.
