Shubman Gill's unbeaten 223 off 133 balls powered India to a record ODI chase against West Indies in Guwahati on 30 September.
West Indies made 405 for 7 after India chose to field, with John Campbell scoring 101 off 68, Shai Hope 104 off 94 and Amir Jangoo 104 off 77.
India reached 406 for 2 in 43.3 overs. Rohit Sharma made 101 off 75, while Gill struck the fastest ODI century by an Indian captain, off 62 balls, and the fastest double century in ODI history, off 117 balls. His 223 not out was the highest individual score in an ODI chase and the highest by an ODI captain. It also made him the second batter after Rohit Sharma to score multiple ODI double centuries and the fastest to 3,500 ODI runs, in 68 innings.
Gill scored 334 runs across three innings in the series, including 110 in the first ODI, and was named ICC Men's Player of the Month for September 2026. It was his fifth such award, making him the first male cricketer to reach that mark.
